ICM 4th Annual Fun Run

This weekend my son and I participated in a Superhero Fun Run near our house. We got to the race early and checked out the playground and skate park. We had a nice time before the race.
We got ready and had planned to stay together but once the race started my boy decidedit was time to run ahead. I was proud of him for his speedy run. I got really bad shin splints in the first mile. It hurt to walk even. I thought of calling my sister to come pick me up out on the course but instead I put in my headphones and cranked up the tunes. I focused on the music and the leg pain became bearable. I finished!

Overall it was a great morning spent doing something active with my son. We will probably do more...

Basketball in the Park

Today the Boss and I went to shoot some hoops at the park. It was a gorgeous day and we didn't want to waist it. I really wanted to take a nap with my daughter but just couldn't pass up the chance to play ball with my boy.
We had a blast. We shot free throws, lay ups and jump shots.

MLK Holiday

The Boss my son had the day off of school. I had to work but have had a sore throat so I worked from home to rest my voice.
After I finished work we did our sit-ups and push-ups.  He did his 50 of each and I did 30 sit-ups and 20 push-ups. Later we went out to throw the football in the backyard.
I love the days we are active together!

Today

In trying to fit more exercise into my day I am trying to do more moving with my kids. Luckily both of my kids are very active so it isn't hard to get them moving. Today my daughter and I walked my son to school. It isn't very far but every little bit counts. After school while my son was at basketball practice I loaded my daughter in the jogging stroller and went for a walk around the school. She loved it and I got my walk in for the day. When we got home I did push-ups and sit-ups with my son. He is supposed to do 50 of each every day. He knocks out the sit-ups with ease but the push-ups give him trouble. I figured if I did some with him we would both have motivation to get them done. Today I did 30 sit-ups and 10 push-ups. Not bad for a desk jockey on her first day. I also topped off my day having a step total of 11800 steps for the day. My Fitbit flex had all green happy numbers at the end of the day. Don't think I have hit all greens before in the little over a month I have had it. Overall I am very pleaded with my day!
